Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding device solvable of a risk to start working in a dry condition with coolant not supplied and also solvable of a risk of a grinding wheel coming into contact with a workpiece in dry condition.
SOLUTION: When a workpiece is held in a specific position (step 1), a coolant is supplied through a coolant supply nozzle (step 2) and electrical power value consumed by a grinding wheel rotary motor under this condition is measured by a wattmeter, while the measured signal of the consumed electrical power is judged whether it has exceeded a preset specific value (step 3), and in case the consumed electrical power has exceeded the specific value, a command signal to start grinding is outputted to a control means (step 4), but if it is judged that consumed electrical power has not exceeded the specific value, the control means is informed of the abnormal condition and a signal to stop the grinding cycle is outputted to the control means (step 5). In this case, the abnormal condition is simultaneously displayed on a display unit (step 6).
