To grind a cutting face on a tooth of a saw blade by a small diameter grinding wheel provided on a grinding machine for circular saw blade dressing without bringing a disclike grinding wheel into contact with it.
The grinding machine for circular saw blade dressing has a machine base 2, a support device 9 for a saw blade 3 supported on it, and a positioning device 25 for a grinding head 24. The grinding head 24 has a turn shaft B and a first shaft 33 and a second shaft 38 which cross it at a right angle, are orthogonally arranged for each other, and are driven separately. The first shaft 33 extends in substantially direction parallel with a tangential direction of an outer peripheral face of the saw blade 3 to hold disclike grinding wheels 26a, 26b, and the second shaft 38 extends in substantially radial direction of the saw blade 3 to hold the small diameter grinding wheel 27 grinding and forming a cutting face 31 of a recessed face of a tooth 29 of the saw blade 3. The grinding head 24 can move in three directions, namely, z direction in which it can come into contact with the support device 9 and leave it, y direction parallel with the turn shaft B, and x direction orthogonal to z and y directions.
