To provide a grinding method and a grinding device for a rough- surfaced round belt having a large surface roughness by suspending a belt to be ground in 8-letter form on simple two shafts on which the belt can be easily suspended.
A main shaft 3 and a follower shaft 9 are disposed in parallel to each other on the same plane, a belt to be ground is twisted for at least 180° to be elongated at an elogation ratio of 3-20% and wound around between them in 8-letter form so that the belt gets in contact with itself at a crossing part 7 without slipping, and the belt to be ground is turned and twisted while rotating to run to get in contact with a grinding wheel 11 rotated at a rotation speed of 14-24 m/s and having at least one line of a semi-circular groove 19 for a specified time to be ground, where atomized water 6 of a grain size of 10-100 μm is sprayed to the belt to be ground in water quantity of 5-80 g/min during grinding.
