To provide a grinding wheel truing method for truing a grinding wheel at high accuracy, by which distortion hardly occurs at an outer peripheral edge of a truing roll at the time of truing, and to provide a grinding machine which can carry out the truing of the grinding wheel with high accuracy.

According to the truing method of the grinding wheel 10, the truing roll 20 having a disk-shaped truing grindstone 22 and a pair of pinching members 23 for pinching the truing grindstone 22 on both front and rear sides, carries out the truing of grinding surfaces 13, 14 of the grinding wheel 10. Specifically the truing roll machining tool (the grinding wheel 10) functions to eliminate and to thin the outer peripheral edge of each pinching member 23, and the truing grindstone 22 kept in a pinched state by the thin pinching members 23 is radially protruded, so as to carry out the truing of the grind surfaces 13, 14 of the grinding wheel 10 by the truing grindstone 22.
