To provide a rod-shaped grinding wheel which allows operations to proceed without directly gripping a grinding wheel main body, has no limitations on its configuration during grinding, and has long life.
A rod-shaped grinding wheel main body 1 where the end faces of a group of grinding fibers are exposed to its surface is covered on its side face with a cover 2 being soft enough to be cut by a cutter knife and the like and having rubberlike elasticity, in such a way that at least one end of the grinding wheel main body 1 is exposed. Alternatively, the cover 2 being soft enough to be cut by a cutter knife and the like and having rubbery elasticity is mounted on the rod-shaped grinding wheel main body 1 where the end faces of the group of grinding fibers are exposed to its surface, by the tightening force of the cover 2 itself in such a way that at least one end of the grinding wheel main body is exposed.
