PURPOSE: To enable rough grinding and fine grinding without interchanging grindstones, by providing a liquid pressure chamber between the rough and fine machining cup-shaped grindstones of a vertical surface grinder to alternately protrude the grindstones.
CONSTITUTION: Abrasive grains 2 are fixed on the face of the body 1 of a grindstone for rough grinding. The body 1 has a cylindrical inside part 3. Abrasive grains 5 for fine grinding are fixed on the face of the body 4 of a grindstone for the fine grinding. The body 4 has a disc part 4a, which can be elastically deformed in the axial direction. An O-ring 6 is provided in the peripheral groove of the grindstone body 4 so that the O-ring is located in hermetic contact with the cylindrical part 3 of the grindstone body 1 for rough grinding. An adjusting bolt 11 having a plunger part, by which liquid 13 can be pressed, is hermetically provided in the hole of the grindstone body 1. The grinding face of the grindstone 4 for fine grinding can be slightly displaced by turning the bolt 11.
