To improve the abrasion and corrosion resistance of a grooved reduction roll used for manufacturing an internally grooved heat-transfer pipe for a heat exchanger, to secure a longer life.
The grooved reduction roll made of WC-base sintered hard alloy for manufacturing the internally grooved heat transfer pipe is coated with an amorphous carbon film. Preferably the roll is further coated with a silicon carbide film as an intermediate layer.
