Abstract:

To provide a grooving device for cylinder bore and cylinder liner inner surface for an internal combustion engine improving wear resistance and seizure resistance through oil holding quantity control by applying slicing honing for forming a deep groove in an inner hole of a workpiece such as a cylinder block using a narrow slicing blade.

A grooving device 1 consists of a rotating mechanism part 2 equipped at a head stock 6 supported to a column 8 placed on a bed 7, slidably along a vertical direction (in a Z-axis direction), an X-Y table 3 provided on the bed 7 so as to place a workpiece such as a cylinder block 9, and the like. A slicing blade 5 is inserted in a bore 19 of the cylinder block 9 to form specified depth of cut so as to form the appropriate number of deep grooves of appropriate shape, width, depth, and the like.
