PURPOSE: To provide a grooving lathe which is capable of reducing cutting resistance applied to a workpiece at the time when the workpiece is machined, and of cutting a groove with accuracy by means of a restless machining.
CONSTITUTION: With cutting edges for cutting grooves on plural places on the same axis-line of a workpiece W supported in the central part between a headstock 1 and a tailstock 2, one or plural cutting edges 21a-21e, the diameters of which are gradually increased, are arranged with shifted phases in the direction of rotation and in parallel in the axial direction, on the positions which correspond to respective groove-cutting positions, of plural places on the rotary shaft 20 rotating around the axis-line parallel to the workpiece W so that they cut each of the grooves of plural places.
