To provide a ground saturation degree measuring method in which a saturation degree can be measured easily, quickly and reliably with high accuracy while keeping a water retention state, in which a saturation degree at an original position is kept, without taking out a collected undisturbed specimen.
An undisturbed specimen 3 at a bottom of a borehole 11 is collected with a sampler 2 provided at a tip of a rod 1, and thereafter the sampler 2 is taken out by lifting it from the borehole 11 while maintaining a water retention state kept with a water retention tool 4. A sampler 2 is taken out of the water retention tool 4 in a state that the water retention tool 4 is kept under water contained in a container 7 on the ground, and the sampler 2 is dismantled to take out a tube 2a storing the collected specimen 3. A total length of the collected specimen 3 is measured while keeping the state that the tube 2a is under the water, and thereafter the tube 2a storing the collected specimen 3 is loaded inside the measuring container 13 also kept under water, and sealed. The measured container 13 is taken out of the water and a mass of the collected specimen 3 is measured, and thereafter a saturation degree is obtained by measuring the mass and volume of soil particles of the collected specimen 3.
