To provide a group management method for preventing the same group ID from being used among different groups without requiring a group management server.
Unique identification numbers in a plurality of mobile nodes constituting a group are inputted into a unidirectional hash function in a predetermined order, and its hash value is determined as a group ID. Also, the mobile nodes can communicate in an ad hoc network. A first mobile node holds a determined first group ID, receives a route request message including a second group ID from the second mobile node, and compares the first group ID with the second group ID. If both the IDs are the same, the first mobile node transmits a route response message to the second mobile node, transmits the route request message including the second group ID in broadcast, and transmits the route response message to the mobile node to be its destination in receiving the message from a third mobile node.
