A guardrail for road is provided with a plurality of posts 2 elected at every prescribed intervals along the road and a plurality of rigid shock absorbing materials 3 installed between each post 2, 2 by being connected with both ends edge to adjacent posts. Each shock absorbing material 3 is comprised of a cable material 31 which is connected with both ends edge to the adjacent posts 2, 2 and a rigid pipe material 32 which covers the cable material 31 in a longitudinal direction, and an end edge of vehicle rear side in a travelling direction in the cable material 31 is exposed on the pipe material 32. Thus, the end edge of vehicle rear side in the travelling direction in the shock absorbing materials 3 works properly as 'allowance' at the time of vehicle collision.
