Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a low-cost guide plate for a chain saw in which grinding is eliminated and a tip can be effectively fixed and which has strong wear resistance, easy in manufacture, a low cost and mass production.

CONSTITUTION: Recesses 9 and protrusions 10 are alternately provided on end faces of both outer steel plates 2. Engaging steps 8 are recessed continuously with the recesses 9, and engaging holes are formed through the steps 8. A thin part 7a is formed at a lower part of a cemented carbide tip 7, spot welded or brazed fixedly to the step 8. The entire thickness of the step 8 and the part 7a is substantially the same as that of the plate 2. A protrusion 11 is provided at the lower end of the part 7a, and spot welded to or brazed fixedly to the hole. An upper part 7b of the tip 7 is provided substantially the same as the thickness of the plate 2, and brazed fixedly to a semicircular end of the plate 2.
