Abstract:
To provide an improved guide-wire device having shapeable tips and effective torquability.SOLUTION: A guide-wire device 100 includes a core 102 having a proximal section 110 and a tapered distal section 112. A tube structure 104 is coupled to the core 102 such that the tapered distal section 112 of the core 102 extends into the tube structure 104 and extends distally beyond the tube structure 104. A portion of the core 102 which extends distally beyond the tube structure 104 forms a shapeable distal tip 106. One or more coils 114 and 118 extend distally beyond the tube 104. The distal tip 106 is constituted to reduce the tendency of resilient forces from the tube structure 104 to disrupt the customized shape of the distal tip 106.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
