PURPOSE: To provide a board for which a gypsum core plate is bonded to a surface sheet with the help of a bonding adhesive material such as starch and the manufacture.

CONSTITUTION: In this gypsum board provided with the gypsum core plate 16 and the surface sheets 12 and 14 on opposite surfaces, the core plate is provided with layers 18 and 22 containing the bonding adhesive material (starch for instance) adjacent to at least one of the surface sheets and the center zone 20 of the core plate is essentially free of the bonding adhesive material. Further, in this manufacture of the gypsum board comprising sticking the layer of the gypsum plaster slurry of a low density onto a first surface sheet and sticking a second surface sheet on the layer of the gypsum plaster slurry, before bringing the surface sheet into a contact state with the low density layer of the gypsum plaster slurry, the relatively denser layer of the gypsum plaster slurry is stuck onto at least one of the surface sheet and the denser layer is stuck onto the surface of the surface sheet to be adjacent to the low dense layer.
