PURPOSE: To obtain a gypsum mold excellent in workability, capable of being manufactured without requiring technique of a high order and enhanced in strength, by molding the gypsum mold from a gypsum mixed aqueous slurry consisting of gypsum, water, a polyvalent metal (meth)acrylate and a water-soluble polymerization initiator.
CONSTITUTION: A gypsum mold is molded from a gypsum mixed aqueous slurry consisting of gypsum, water, a polyvalent metal (meth)acrylate and a water-soluble polymerization initiator. After the gypsum mixed aqueous slurry is cast in a main mold to be molded, the molded body taken out of the main mold is dried at desired temp. to make it possible to prepare the gypsum mold. In this case, the polyvalent metal (meth)acrylate in the gypsum mixed aqueous slurry generates polymerization in the main mold by the action of the water-soluble polymerization initiator and the polyvalent metal polyacrylate thus formed enhances the strength of the gypsum mold. As the polyvalent metal (meth) acrylate, divalent metal (meth)acrylate is pref. from an aspect capable of being added to the gypsum mixed aqueous slurry at high concentration because of its high water solubility, and zinc (meth)acrylate is further preferable.
