PURPOSE: To allow the characteristic of the filter processing applied to the output of a gyroscope to follow the change of the moving state of a vehicle and realize the filter processing optimized for detecting the turning angular velocity of the vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: A gyroscope 21 detects the turning angular velocity of a vehicle. The output signal of the gyroscope 21 is converted into digital data by an A/D converter 24. The data are subjected to the filter processing by a digital filter 31, and the noise constituent is removed. The digital filter 31 has the characteristic as a low pass filter. The cutoff frequency of the digital filter 31 is set low while the vehicle is stopped, and the cutoff frequency is set high while the vehicle is traveled. Noises are sufficiently reduced during the stop period, and the high-speed responsiveness is secured in the travel period.
