PURPOSE: To prevent oscillating operations and outputs thereof from being unstable due to spurious milli-waves by providing a milli-wave absorbing means absorbing spurious milli-waves generated by the circuit loss of a mode converter.
CONSTITUTION: A gyrotron device is provided with a milli-wave absorbing material layer 21 composed of a solid conductive layer such as silicone carbide and the like which absorb milli-waves, in a region enclosing a semi-optical mode converter 7 and in a region which does not interfere with the emission of milli-wave beams 8 in the inner circumferential surface of a converter wall 10 forming a space which houses the semi-optical mode converter 7. In this constitution, most of spurious milli-waves generated by the circuit loss of the mode converter 7 are absorbed by the layer 21. This can thereby prevent useless milli-waves from coming in a cavity resonator 3 and an electron gun 1, thereby making it possible oscillating operations and outputs thereof.
