NEW MATERIAL:A peptide expressed by the formula (A is Phe or Tyr; R is -NH2 or -OH) or a salt thereof.
USE: A remedy for accessory thyroidal hyperfunction having a property of the N-terminated fragment derivative of the human accessory thyroidal hormone as an antagonist for the accessory thyroidal hormone.
PROCESS: Individual amino acids and/or paptide fragments are condensed in the amino acid sequence of the formula to constitute the aimed derivative. In the process, fucntional groups in the side chain or an α-amino group in the N-terminated amino acid or both are protected by protecting groups, and the α- carboxyl group in the C-terminated amino acid is converted into an amido group when R is -NH2 group and protected by protecting groups when R is -OH group. The protecting groups in the resultant dotriacontapeptide fragment are eliminated by the acid decomposition, e.g. the decomposition with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, and then purified by the column chromatography with a gel filtration agent and an adsorbent to give the aimed peptide expressed by the formula.
