Abstract:

To provide high nonmagnetic Mn steel for a superconducting magnet which has remarkably improved hot workability in hot forging or hot extrusion, and has heating embrittlement resistance after heat treatment for producing the superconducting magnet.

The high nonmagnetic Mn steel for a superconducting magnet contains, by weight, ≤0.10% C, ≤0.5% Si, 10 to 30% Mn, 2 to 15% Ni, 5 to 25% Cr, ≤2% Mo, 0.001 to 0.01% B and 0.1 to 0.3% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
