To provide a hydrolysate which is separated from fruiting body or mycelium of kinji (fungi belonging to Tremellaceae) and which shows the similar pharmacological action to high molecular weight acidic heteropolysaccharides which are insoluble in organic solvents and soluble in water and which is far less viscous than the high molecular weight acidic heteropolysaccharides and which can be conveniently used, a medicine containing this as an active ingredient and food and drink containing this.
A hydrolysate with a number average molecular weight of 350-3,500 calculated based on dextran by gel permeation method is used which is separated from fruiting body or mycelium of kinji and which contains a low molecular weight acidic heteropolysaccharide obtained by hydrolysis of a high molecular weight acidic heteropolysaccharide which is insoluble in organic solvents and soluble in water.
