PURPOSE: To reduce the travel loss of the movable handrail of a man-conveyer, and prevent the abrasion of the movable handrail or a movable handrail guide and the slipping-off of the movable handrail.

CONSTITUTION: Plural rollers 9, supporting the lower surface of a movable handrail 4 in the return side upper bent part, are journalled along a curve on both the inner part sides of a main frame 1 of an escalator. Bendable guides are continuously inserted in the inside of the movable handrail 4 in the return side upper bent part. The guides are supported adjustably in the vertical direction with a vertical adjustment mechanism.
