PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition containing specific amounts of a specific quaternary ammonium salt and abietic acid compound or rosins, and capable of imparting hairs with excellent combing property, smoothness, and moist feeling without lowering the toughness of the hair.

CONSTITUTION: The objective hair cosmetic composition contains (A) 0.1W10wt% of one or more compounds of formula I [one or two of R1WR4 are 10W24C alkyl, 10W24C hydroxyalkyl, or R5(OCH2CH2)1W10 (R5 is 10W24C alkyl or 10W 24C hydroxyalkyl) and the others are 1W3C alkyl, group of formula II (n1 is integer of 1W5; R6 is H or CH3) or benzyl; X is halogen or 1W2C alkylsulfuric acid residue] and (B) 0.1W20wt% of abietic acid, rosin or their derivative. The combing property and the flexibility of the hair can be further improved by adding 0.1W10wt% of an oily substance such as a 12W22C aliphatic alcohol to the composition having the above properties.
