PURPOSE: To provide a hair cosmetic effective for suppressing e.g. the damage and discoloration of hair induced by ultraviolet rays, exhibiting excellent hair- care effect, giving excellent feeling and having high stability and safety.

CONSTITUTION: This hair cosmetic contains (A) an nonvolatile silicone compound selected from dimethylpolysiloxane, methylphenylpolysiloxane, polyether-modified silicone, amino-modified silicone and alkyl-modified silicone and (B) a sulfur- containing compound selected from among thiols, sulfides and disulfides. The hair cosmetic may be further incorporated with an ultraviolet absorber selected from among octyl methoxycinnamate, benzophenone, benzophenone derivatives, p-aminobenzoic acids and benzoylmethanes.
