To obtain the subject cosmetic excellent in the effect for preventing scalp dandruff and itch due to irritation by formulating an amide compound and an antimicrobial.

This hair cosmetic is obtained by mixing (A) an amide compound (e.g. a N-substituted amide compound bearing carbon atoms of 30 or more) with a melting point of 0-50°C and (B) an antimicrobial (e.g. triclosan, triclocarban, piroctone olamine, etc.), or a cationic microbicide preferably in amounts of 0.1-20 wt.% and 0.005-5 wt.%, respectively. The component A is preferably the compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a 1-40C hydrocarbon; R3 is a 1-6C straight chain, branched chain alkylene or a single bond; R4 is H, a 1-12C straight chain, branched chain alkoxy or the like) and the like. The component B is preferably the microbicide of formula II (R5 and R6 are each a 6-14C long chain alkyl, long chain alkenyl or the like; R7 and R8 are each an 1-3C alkyl, a hydroxyalkyl or the like; Z1 is a halogen, an amino acid, a fatty acid or the like) or the like.
