To prepare a hair cosmetic having suitable settling property, slipperiness between fingers and glass without collapsing set hair style nor inducing tackiness in applying to the hair by containing respectively specific amounts of a higher alcohol, an oil and a lower alcohol, and substantially eliminating water.

This hair cosmetic substantially containing no water is obtained by containing (A) 0.1-5 wt.% of a higher alcohol (preferably cetyl alcohol, etc.), as a treatment auxiliary, (B) 20-60 wt.% of an ester oil (e.g. isopropyl myristate) and/or a triglyceride oil (e.g. tri-2-ethyl glyceryl hexanoate) as a treatment effect giving agent and (C) 35-79.9 wt.% of a lower alcohol (preferably ethanol) as a solvent.
