To provide a hair drier having a small and light high-voltage power generator.
A rudder voltage doubler rectifier circuit 40 is used for generating high voltage, and built in a hair drier 10. The rudder voltage doubler rectifier circuit 40 has a simple circuit configuration in which diodes and capacitors are arrayed in a ladder and it can easily generate high voltage. The thus constructed rudder voltage doubler rectifier circuit 40 is disposed in a blower cylinder 30, whereby the rudder voltage doubler rectifier circuit 40 can be air- cooled by air blown from a blower motor 20. When an ion generating switch 19 is turned on to apply high voltage from the rudder voltage doubler rectifier circuit 40 to an ion electrode 60, a large amount of minus ions are generated from the ion electrode 60 to apply the minus ions to the hair of a person to be applied with blowing.
