To make negative ions sufficiently permeate through hair whether hair is curled or combed with a hair iron.
The ground output of a high-voltage generating means 19 built in a handle 11 of the hair iron is connected to a cylinder 21 of a heating part 10 which is formed in series to the handle 11 for winding hair around. A needle-shaped electrode 20 connected to the high-voltage output of the high-voltage generating means 19 is disposed at the center of the cross section of the cylinder to face the inner periphery of the cylinder 21, and a plurality of slits 23 are formed in the cylinder 21 which faces the needle tip to release negative ions 32 through the slits 23. Accordingly, the negative ions 32 are spread from the inside to the outside of the hair wound around the heating part, so that the negative ions 32 can permeate through the whole hair. When a heating surface 13 is applied to the hair to comb the hair, the negative ions 32 are also released and can permeate the whole hair.
