The hair iron includes straightening bodies 11,13 for straightening hair by a holding action, provided on a pair of holding arms 7,9 respectively so as to oppose each other, and a heating element for heating a straightening face 87 of the straightening bodies 11,13. The heating element is a film heater 69 which is a thin plate-shaped electric resistor 111 covered by an insulated film 113 made of a polyimide resin. Therefore, the lightweight hair iron having excellent follow-up to a set temperature and operability, which does not require the large space for loading the heating element, may be obtained.
