To provide a cosmetic composition having viscosity increased by combining at lest two thickeners and the application of the composition to hair styling.

The cosmetic composition, especially a hair styling composition, contains the following components in a cosmetically permissible carrier: (a) at least one fixing film-forming polymer selected from branched block copolymers containing at least one 1-20C alkyl acrylate and/or at least one N-mono- or N,N-di(2-12C alkyl) (meth)acrylamide, and acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid as the main monomer; (b) at least one thickener selected from homopolymers and copolymers containing a crosslinked or non-crosslinked (meth)acrylic acid as the base; and (c) at least one co-thickener selected from non-cellulosic thickening polymers different from the component (b).
