Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair tonic that has sustained-release hair tonic effects, such as hair growing, depilation-preventive and dandruff-preventive effects, by using eugenol in a specific form as a 5α-reductase activity inhibitor.
SOLUTION: This hair tonic is obtained by blending an eugenol glycoside. The blending ratio is preferably 0.1-10.0wt.% to the whole quantity of the hair tonic. The eugenol glycoside can be easily synthesized by a well known method. Among eugenol glycosides, glucose glycosides, specifically eugenyl α-D-glucoside and/or eugenyl β-D-glucosicle, are preferable because of degree of manifestation of their effects. In this case, although β-glucosides are more preferable, α- glucosides may be contained without affecting the effects. This hair tonic can be formulated in such a form as hair tonic, hair lotion and hair mousse which are directly applied to the scalp.
