Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition capable of conditioning hair and, imparting retentiveness of a semi-permanent hair set without damaging the hair, which composition comprises a protein containing an amino acid having a disulfide bond and a suitable liquid carrier and have a specific range of pH. CONSTITUTION: This hair-treating composition capable of interacting with disulfides in human hair and reforming the hair to a predetermined shape comprises a protein containing at least 0.1wt.% of an amino acid having a disulfide bond, 0,01-20wt.%, especially 0.25-3wt.% of a hydrolyzed product of keratin having preferably 20,000-1,000,000, especially 50,000-300,000 average molecular weight and a liquid carrier such as water, an alcohol, a glycol, a glycol ether, a polyol, etc., and has 3-12, preferably 5-11pH. The composition is blended with 0.25-1wt.% of a thickener such as sodium alginate and guar gum.
