PURPOSE: To prevent deflection due to centrifugal force of the central part of a roll body by fixing and supporting a rotary member and the roll body by engagement of an engaging projection and an engagement part in an apparatus having plural half split polishing roll bodies fixed to the long rotary member of a polishing machine.
CONSTITUTION: This half split polishing roll has two half split polishing roll bodies fixed to a long rotary member 9 of a polishing machine, the rotary member 9 has a rotary shaft 2 and a pair of fixing rings 7, 7 and an engagement ring 8 respectively fixed to the rotary shaft with respect to the rotating direction. Hook-like engaging projections 8a are projected opposite to the respective roll bodies 3 on the surface of the engagement ring 8, the respective engaging projections 8a are freely locked in engagement holes 3d formed in the inner peripheral surfaces of the cylindrical portions 3b of the roll bodies 3, and after locking-in, the roll bodies 3 and the rotary member 9 are relatively moved in the axial direction to engage the engagement projection 8a with an engagement edge 3f, thereby fixing and supporting the central part of the roll body 3 on the rotary member 9.
