Abstract:

To provide an adsorbent excellent in halogen adsorptivity.

A halogen adsorbent of the embodiment has a carrier, a chelate ligand bonded to the carrier, and a metal ion coordinated with the chelate ligand. The chelate ligand has a functional group represented by -NR¹-(CH₂CH₂NR³)_n-R² in which each of R¹, R² and R³ is a hydrogen atom, and n is 1 or 2, or at least one of R¹, R² and R³ is a functional group represented by -CH₂CH₂CONR⁴R⁵, in which each of R⁴ and R⁵ is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group or an alkoxy group having a 1-6C straight or branched chain and n is either of 0, 1 or 2.
