Title:
HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON REMOVING AGENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5586578
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a removing agent for removing halogenated hydrocarbon within water effectively by forming animal and vegetable protein having unsaturated bond into a porous shape with high specific surface area.

CONSTITUTION: An animal and vegetable protein containing a large amount of unsaturated bonds selected from an animal protein such as wool, fish meal or the like and a vegetable protein such as soybeans residue, cotton seeds residue or the like is ground to form powders with about 60W200 mesh particle size (wool or the like are cut into fibers with appropriate length) and, according to necessity, calcium hydroxide is added to obtain the mixture. This mixture is kneaded with an aqueous solution containing a sizing agent (polyvinyl alcohol, starch or the like) and molded into pellets or granules, thereafter dried to obtain a removing agent for halogenated hydrocarbon (e.g., chloroform). The above described removing agent is preferably used by arranging the same as fixed layer on the way of a passage of water to be treated.
