A hand-held electric appliance includes: at least one fluid inlet; at least one fluid outlet; at least one fluid flow path; a heater; and a fluid chamber at least partially formed by an external wall of the electric appliance. The chamber is configured to provide a thermally insulating barrier between the heater and the external wall. The heater can be arranged downstream of the fluid chamber. The fluid chamber can extend about the heater. The heater can be annular in shape. The chamber can extend about an external periphery of the heater. The chamber can extend about an internal periphery of the heater. The electric heater can include a body and a handle connected to the body while the chamber is arranged in the body. The body can include a tubular wall forming a bore through which fluid flows through the electric appliance. The fluid chamber is arranged between the external wall and the tubular wall.
