PURPOSE: To implement sufficient hand-shake correction independently of dispersion in the correction means by setting variably a correction range by a correction range setting means based on the result of detection of an operating range detection means.
CONSTITUTION: A correction means 3 receiving a correction signal from a correction signal generating means 2 uses drive sections 27y, 27p to vary an apex angle of the glass plates 22y, 22p in a direction of cancelling hand-shake based on the correction signal thereby correcting hand-shake. An operating range detection means 4 uses apex angle detection sections 25y, 25p to detect an apex signal from its minimum value up to its maximum value from one end of the operating range to the other end. The apex angle signal is given to A/D converters 28y, 28p, in which A/D conversion is conducted and the resulting signal is fed to a correction range setting means 5. The means 5 sets variably a characteristic at both ends of the correction signal in the operating range sent from the means 2 to the means 3 by variably setting an integration constant of nonlinear integration devices 8y, 8p in matching with both ends of the operating range of the apex angle of an active prism 21 of the means 3 based on the apex angle signal detected by the means 4.
