To perform work, wherein a soil sample penetrating into a soil sampling tube is gathered by making the soil sampling tube penetrate into soil by a predetermined depth and pulling it out, in a labor-saving manner by man power.
A handle hammer type soil sampler is equipped with: a main body part 2 for attaching a base end of the soil sampling tube 3; a main shaft 4 which is elongated upward concentrically with the soil sampling tube 3 attached to a lower part of the main body part 2 and which has a predetermined length and a smaller diameter than the main body part 2; a handle/hammer part 5 which is fitted and inserted into the main shaft 4 in a vertically reciprocatable manner; and a fixing means 6 for fixing the handle/hammer part 5 to the main shaft 4 in a state wherein a lower end of the handle/hammer part 5 abuts on an upper end of the main body part 2. The soil sampling tube 3 can be attached to/detached from the main body part 2, and can be replaced with a soil sampling tube 11 with a different length. A weight part 8 for increasing inertia is detachably provided in the handle/hammer part 5. A calibration 10 is annexed to the soil sampling tube 3 along its length direction, and the soil sampling tube 3 is provided with a window part 3b from which the soil sample can be observed and taken out.
