Abstract:
PURPOSE: To operate a handrail at a speed equal to a step even when a canvas surface of the handrail is wetted by rainwater or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A handrail driving gear is provided with a water detecting device 14 for detecting water on a canvas surface of a handrail 4 brought into contact with a driving roller 5, heater device 15 actuated when water is detected by the water detecting device 14 and the driving roller 5 of burying a shape memory alloy 16 protruded when it is heated.
