PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for producing an antibody reactive with chlorphenapyl or its fragment by introducing a functional group utilizable to bonding with a spacer arm and a polymeric compound into chlorphenapyl or its part.
SOLUTION: This compound has a structure expressed by formula I [A1 to A3 are each a halogen such as F, Cl or Br, CN, CF3 or a 1-3C alkyl; A4 is a halogen such as F, Cl or Br; (m) is 1-10], e.g. chlorphenapyl hapten. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of the formula: X-(CH2)m-COOP (X is a halogen; P is a protecting group of carboxyl group) in an organic solvent such as N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of a condensing agent such as sodium hydride at from 0°C to boiling point of a solvent for about 1-5 h and removing a protecting group of carboxyl group from the resultant compound.
