Abstract:
To provide a hard coating film for a cutting tool, which hard coating film can perform a high speed and high efficiency cutting operation and has the wear resistance more excellent than that of TiAlSiN, and further to provide a manufacturing method useful for achieving the hard coating film.
The hard coating film is composed of (Ti1-a-b-c-d, Ala, Crb, Sic, Bd)(C1-eNe), where the respective atomic ratios a, b, c, d of Al, Cr, Si, and B satisfy the following conditions, 0.5≤a≤0.8, 0.06≤b, 0≤c≤0.1, 0≤d≤0.1, 0.01≤c+d≤0.1, and a+b+c+d<1, and further the atomic ratio e of N satisfies the following condition, 0.5≤e≤1.
