To provide a hard disk destroying apparatus which can simply destroy a hard disk in a short period of time to surely keep a secret and which is lightweight, small-sized, and is portable.

The hard disk destroying apparatus 10 is used for physically destroying the hard disk 1 housing a disk 2 in a metallic case 4 and is constituted so as to be portable. The hard disk destroying apparatus 10 is provided with a holding section 30 for holding the hard disk 1, a cutting mechanism section 40 for cutting a part of the hard disk 1, and a chip storing section 50 arranged below the cutting position of the disk 1. The cutting mechanism section 40 is provided with a rotary type cutter 41 for cutting the case 4 and a part of the disk 2 of the hard disk 1, a driving section 42 for rotatively driving the cutter 41, and a movement operation section 43 for moving the cutter 41 to the cutting position.
