To provide an HDD recorder connectable to the DV cam corder through an IEEE1394 serial bus cable, in which time and labor required for searching a video recording file dubbed from a DV camcorder are considerably reduced.
When the HDD recorder is connected to the DV camcorder (YES in S12) in such a state that a video recording file table display picture on which a table of various video recording files is displayed is displayed on a monitor (S11), a microprocessor in the HDD recorder extracts only video recording files dubbed from the DV camcorder out of the various video recording files stored in a hard disk drive built in the HDD recorder on the basis of recording source discriminating information recorded in a video recording file record and displays the extracted video recording files on the video recording file table display picture (S13).
