This hardenable coating composition contains following (A) and (B); (A) a carbamate or a urea-functional compound as a reaction product of following (1) and (2); (1) a reaction product of following (a) and (b); (a) a compound containing carbamate or urea group, or an active hydrogen group reactive with lactone or hydroxycarboxylic acid, (b) lactone or hydroxycarboxylic acid, (2) a component converting a hydroxyl group to a carbamate group by reacting with the compound 1 or a component containing a group reactive with the hydroxyl group and (B) a compound containing plural groups reactive with carbamate or urea.
