The HART communication system comprises an HART communication unit 10 provided for each channel 15 in order to extract an AC signal from an HART communication signal received via a channel 15 and transmit a digital signal corresponding to the AC signal to an equipment monitoring device 4, and a first control unit 11 which transmits a communication limitation notice to an interfering HART communication unit 10, and transmits a communication permission notice sequentially to the HART communication unit 10 within a range where the period of communication with an apparatus 2 for HART communication does not overlap. The HART communication unit 10 stops communication with the apparatus 2 for HART communication when the communication limitation notice is received, resumes communication with the apparatus 2 for HART communication when the communication permission notice is received, and stops communication with the apparatus 2 for HART communication again when a response is received therefrom.
