PURPOSE: To increase the transverse stability of a marine vessel by providing each jack for lifting each hatch cover for a right and a left dolly, and concurrently providing a control system which controls a drive mechanism in response to output signals from an encoder in order to synchronize the positions of the right and left dollies in the longitudinal direction.
CONSTITUTION: A jack is made up a cylinder 7, a piston rod 8 and a hatch cover receiving member 9 on a dolly 6. Each hatch cover 2 is transported in such a way that the hatch cover 2 is lifted up to a height as required with a drive mechanism controlled for each dolly under the aforesaid condition while the positions of each dolly 6 are being synchronized with each other in response to the signal corresponding to the amount of movement of each dolly 6 by an encoder 19 by a control panel 24. Thus as mentioned above, the transport device for a marine vessel hatch cover is so constituted as to be low in height over the deck, and also as to be small in size and light in weight, the transverse stability of a hull can thereby be increased as compared with that of a former on-vessel crane.
