Title:
HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010217737
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a head-mounted display capable of reproducing a wide color gamut without using a green semiconductor laser.

The head-mounted display includes: a plurality of light sources which emit laser beams of mutually different colors; a control unit which allows the plurality of light sources to emit the laser beams corresponding to an image signal in accordance with the image signal; a scanning unit which scans the laser beams emitted from the plurality of light sources; and an optical system which makes the laser beams scanned by the scanning unit incident on the eye of an observer to project an image corresponding to the image signal on the retina of the observer, wherein at least one of the plurality of light sources is defined as a first light source emitting a laser beam of ultraviolet rays or infrared rays, and a transparent phosphor excited with the laser beam emitted from the first laser light source to emit green light is arranged on an intermediate image plane, formed up to the position of the eye of the observer, among image planes formed with the laser beams scanned by the scanning unit.
