The head part sorting apparatus for sugar cane is equipped with a feed means for feeding sugar cane cut pieces preliminarily cut into almost constant length and a sorting means for sorting only head parts among the sugar cane cut pieces fed by the feed means from healthy cane parts being other sugar cane cut pieces. The sorting means is equipped with a pair of holders and both holders have a holding angle forming start position forming a holding angle capable of holding the head parts but incapable of holding the healthy cane parts and a release angle forming start position for releasing the holding of the head parts and can isolate the discharge falling position of the head parts released at the release angle forming start position and the discharge falling position of the healthy cane parts discharged before reaching the release angle forming start position.
