Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly and rapidly constrain the head of a sitting occupant without using an inertial force of the sitting occupant by detecting a rear end collision of a vehicle and operating a head rest body.
SOLUTION: In the rear end collision of the vehicle, by unlocking a locking means 40 with a control means 50, left and right head rest members 11 and 12 constituting the head rest body 10a turn toward the front side of the vehicle, a film-like body 13 bridged between divided ends of them develops, and the head of the sitting occupant is certainly and rapidly constrained by the film-like body 13. The locking/unlocking direction of the locking means 40 is set to be the car width direction, so that a longitudinal force F applied to a seat back 101 in the rear end collision is prevented from affecting the unlocking of the locking means 40.
