Title:
HEAD SLIDER AND DISK DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3923140
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the floating height of a slider approximately constant by making the center line of an inner rail in its longitudinal direction and the center line of an outer rail in its longitudinal direction parallel to each other and inclining them at a prescribed angle on the side of an air inflow end so as to approach the inner side of a disk.
SOLUTION: An inner rail 50 is formed with a tapered surface 51 in its air inflow end part 50a and an outer rail 52 is also formed with a tapered surface 53 in its air inflow end part 52a. Moreover, an electromagnetic transducer 54 is formed in the outer rail 52 at its air outflow end 52b. The widths of the inner rail 50 and the outer rail 52 are formed wide on the inflow end side and the outflow end side respectively and their intermediate parts are formed narrow to suppress a floating fluctuation due to the yaw angle change of the slider. A center rail 56 is formed in the air inflow end part of the slider 32 and a groove 62 for generating a negative pressure is formed to be continued to slits 58 and 60 between this rail 56 and the rails 50 and 52 respectively. Consequently, an air inflow characteristic and a floating stability are improved.
